Do I need a referral to make an appointment?

No, you don't need a referral to make an appointment. However, you will need a mental health care plan from your GP if you wish to claim the rebate from medicare.

Can I book my appointment online?

Yes, but online booking is only available for existing clients. After your initial appointment, you may use the online booking link here.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that unexpected things pop up from time to time. Where possible, we ask that you provide at least 48 hours notice for a cancelled appointment. A fee may apply for last-minute cancellations.

Where can I park?

Our office is conveniently located on level 5 within the Paddington Central Shopping Centre. It has plenty of free parking (up to three hours).

Can I contact my therapist after hours?

We are unavailable after opening hours. Mindwise Health Services is not an emergency service - if you require immediate support, please contact emergency services or after hours counselling services such as:

Mental health Care Plan (MHCP)

  • A Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) is a structured plan created by a healthcare provider (such as a GP, Paediatrician, or Psychiatrist) to support individuals experiencing mental health concerns. It allows access to Medicare rebates for psychological treatment, making it more affordable for individuals to seek professional help for a range of mental health conditions.

    1. Visit Your GP or Mental Health Specialist: To start, you need to visit your GP, paediatrician, or psychiatrist. They will assess your mental health needs and determine if an MHCP is appropriate for you.

    2. Create the Plan**: If your healthcare provider agrees that you could benefit from psychological support, they will create an MHCP that outlines your treatment needs.

    3. Referral for Treatment: After the MHCP is created, your healthcare provider will refer you to a clinical or registered psychologist for therapy sessions.

    4. Book Your Sessions: You can access up to 10 individual therapy sessions (and 10 group therapy sessions) per calendar year.

    5. Ongoing Support: If you need further sessions, your healthcare provider can review the plan and extend it if needed.

Eating disorder Management plan (EDMP)

  • An Eating Disorder Management Plan (EDMP) is designed for individuals experiencing eating disorders, such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder. It allows for increased access to both psychological and dietetic support, tailored to managing these complex conditions.

    1. Visit Your GP, Paediatrician, or Psychiatrist: The first step is to visit your healthcare provider to assess whether you are dealing with an eating disorder and if an EDMP is appropriate.

    2. Create the EDMP: If necessary, the healthcare provider will develop an EDMP to guide your treatment, which includes both psychological and nutritional support.

    3. Referral for Treatment: Your healthcare provider will refer you for up to 40 psychological sessions and 20 dietetic sessions within the 12-month period.

    4. Ongoing Reviews: After every 10 sessions, your doctor must review the plan. If additional sessions are required, they will continue to review and extend your treatment as necessary.

    5. Continue Treatment: Upon plan expiry (after 12 months), a new EDMP will need to be created to continue accessing services.

  • A Team Care Arrangement (TCA) is designed to support individuals with chronic conditions and complex care needs. It coordinates services from a range of healthcare professionals, including psychologists, to ensure that patients receive holistic care.

    1. Visit Your GP: Your GP will assess whether you have a chronic condition (e.g., diabetes, chronic pain, or mental health issues) that requires ongoing care.

    2. Create the Care Plan: If your GP determines you need coordinated care, they will create a TCA. This care plan outlines the services you need, including psychology services.

    3. Referral to Healthcare Providers: Your GP will refer you to appropriate healthcare providers, such as a psychologist, to access up to **5 psychology services** per calendar year.

    4. Ongoing Management: Your GP will continue to manage and review your care plan, ensuring that all aspects of your health are addressed.

  • A TCA is designed for individuals with chronic conditions that require ongoing support, such as:
